Case Study:
Structuring for Success
Our Challenge
A large department need to shape and locate a Chief Digital Officer (CDO) role that would best help drive digital transformation for their organisation.
Our approach
In parallel with looking at what others in Government and industry typicaly do with a CDO role, we took the time to speak with the senior executives who would need to work with the CDO, to get their view on what they felt was needed. We also looked at the makeup of the projects that were being undertaken and where the organisation was at in their digital transformation roadmap. From that base, we identified and contrasted several options for the role and recommended the one that best fit best with both the people in other key roles and the transformation objectives of the organisation.
The Outcome
Our recommendation for the CDO was quickly accepted – enabling broader oversight and decision making across all projects impacted by the Digital Transformation agenda. But our methodology had wider impact. It also informed priority setting for projects not just within the digital portfolio, but further afield, for even greater return on investment.
